Matt Powers Custom Homes and Renovations renovated our home after it was rendered uninhabitable by Hurricane Ike. During this very stressful time for our family, Dewey Hennessee and Matt Powers worked with integrity, respect, honesty and responsiveness to rebuild our home. The job took a little longer to complete than was projected but was well worth the extra time. We are very pleased with the end result. The projected budget was right on target. The contractors laid down tarps, taped areas thoroughly, and were careful to treat our home with respect. We just wanted to thank the team at Matt Powers Custom Homes & Renovations for helping us navigate our unexpected renovation. In April 2009, our whole house flooded. After examining our options, we decided the best thing to do would be use this as an opportunity to completely renovate the house and in the process upgrade our 1960s house to a more modern and more energy efficient home. After interviewing a few companies, we settled on Matt Powers Builders because we felt comfortable with the team, particularly Dewey Hennessee who served as the lead contractor.

They assisted us in every phase of the project, from layout and design to landscaping and "green building" certification. During construction, we met with Dewey frequently to get status updates, make decisions and develop a schedule. No question of ours was too off the wall for Dewey. He took time to answer our questions and made sure that we understood the process at every step. In a tough spot, he was a real life-saver.

In the end we added a new master bath, remodeled the kitchen, moved several walls and redesigned the drainage on the lot. Despite never having done a certified green home before, they worked with an energy auditor to complete the requirements for a NAHB certification. As a result, our thoroughly new home was a awarded an Emerald level certification for renovations from the NAHB, the first of its kind in Harris county.

As you know, we were extremely pleased - thrilled - with both of our remodels! The contractors you use are so professional and show so much respect for the home as they work on the project.
