Matt Powers Custom Homes & Renovations Sweeps the NARI 2012 Contractor of the Year Award Competition

Matt Powers Custom Homes and Renovations were CotY winners in the Residential Bath Under $30,000; Residential Bath $30,000 - $60,000; Residential Interior Specialty; Entire House $250,000 - $500,000; and the Judges Choice Award categories.

The CotY awards are part of an annual competition held by NARI and culminating with the CotY Awards ceremony which is commonly regarded as the premier event of the year throughout the remodeling industry.

NARI is a professional association whose members represent a select group of companies and individuals throughout the U.S. identifying themselves as professional remodelers, and who voluntarily subscribe to a strict code of ethics.

Matt Powers Custom Homes And Renovations Receives 1st Remodel Emerald Certification From GHBAs Green Built Gulf Coast

Co-owner Dewey Hennessee achieved Emerald level performance for the 49 year old home after extensive remodeling, performance testing and inspections, reducing energy usage in the home by 52.1% and water usage by 52.2%. Emerald certified homes show at minimum a 50% improvement in efficiency for both energy and water consumption.

"It was refreshing to be able to work with a couple committed to doing their part for the environment," said Hennessee. "We were able to blend the modern eco-sensitive techniques with an older home, and the result is a modern performing home with less of an environmental footprint that will make economic sense for the customer for years to come."

GBGC is a green building program recently released by the GHBA. The program is geared specifically for the unique environmental conditions that define the Texas Gulf Coast area including heat and humidity.
